The 1990s
The quiet decline

From the curator
Take your time - every card in this room has its own hour.
Email arrives. Then text messages. The postcard doesn’t die - it just stops being routine. What’s sent now is sent on purpose.
Print quality is excellent, glossy stock is standard, and yet the tone changes. Cards apologise for being late, for being paper at all, for not simply phoning.
The ones that survive from this decade are, quietly, some of the fondest in the collection. They were never obligatory. Someone chose to write.
