Why we are building the Museum of Written Postcards

Most postcard collections care about the picture on the front. We care about the back — the handwriting, the address, the six lines that someone leaned in to write on a wet afternoon.

Those six lines are the record of an ordinary life. A daughter writing to a mother. A soldier writing home. A holiday, a birth, a farewell, all compressed into a rectangle you could hold in one hand.

This museum exists to keep those lives readable. Every card is transcribed, dated, placed on a map, and credited to the collector who saved it. Nothing here is thrown away. Nothing here is anonymous.
